Continuing the Passion

After their week at STARBASE, our students go back to school. The Mentoring 2.0 program was created to stay connected with students and support their interests in science, technology, engineering and math. STARBASE 2.0 Mentoring pairs military and corporate volunteers with former STARBASE students in an after-school program at E-STEM Middle School, a St. Paul Public School with a STEM and environmental education emphasis. Students meet with coaches and mentors to explore the possibilities in cutting-edge science through hands-on team projects.  Each semester has a different theme that is guided by student interest.

Volunteering

Volunteer mentors work with a small group of middle school students on their STEM projects.  No STEM background or mentoring experience is necessary, as the school’s teachers and STARBASE staff will be there to guide you. The desired adult to student ratio is 1:2. Mentoring takes place during a 1-2 hour block of time and is typically scheduled once a week.

Thank you mentors for a fantastic year of engaging students with STEM!

Thank You 2022-2023 STARBASE 2.0 Mentors and Participants!

In order to influence the youth of today, you have to capture their imagination and passion.  This is exactly what STARBASE has been doing throughout the years.  Kids learn exciting and rigorous science, technology, engineering and math skills that inspire them to become the scientists of tomorrow.
