Summer STEM Opportunities!

Looking for ways to engage your child(ren) in STEM after  STARBASE is over?  See below for local STEM programming that may interest you and your child(ren).

Bell Museum

Minnesota’s official natural history museum, the Bell Museum has preserved and interpreted our state’s rich, natural history and serves learners of all ages. They offer bug catching, and a perfect post-STARBASE planetarium show: Mars, The Ultimate Voyage as well as other events.

Local Library

Local Libraries are a fantastic resource for fun (and often FREE) STEM activities and opportunities. Check out Hennepin County STEAM Lab,  Dakota County Coding Club, or Lounging with Lizards (and many more).

Minnesota Zoo

The Minnesota Zoo’s exhibits provide exciting experiences with animals and their habitats, introducing guests to species from around the globe. Education programs at the Minnesota Zoo include  summer camps as well as other education events and opportunities, outside of more traditional zoo visits. 

Also, check out their online game where you try to help rebuild the population of the Minnesota Moose!

Leonardo’s


 Basement

Leonardo’s Basement is the oldest all-ages makerspace in the world. It provides year-round workshops in unique social and physical environments, where young people learn by designing and building projects incorporating engineering, art, and technology.

The Works 

A hands-on engineering and design museum for children and their grown-ups. The focus on engineering lets kids be builders, designers and problem-solvers.  The Works Museum offers numerous  camps and events,  and is just an awesome place in general to visit.

Science Museum

The Science Museum of Minnesota explores our world through science. Between interactive exhibits, a collection with over two million objects, and continuous scientific research, there’s always something new to discover. Check out their camps here.

Bakken Museum

The Bakken Museum inspires a passion for innovation by exploring the potential for science, technology, and the humanities to make the world a better place. Located on the west shore of Bde Maka Ska, the Bakken Museum features interactive exhibits, a medicinal garden, a world-renowned collection of artifacts, and exceptional STEM education programs.
