Share your expertise as a STEM professional through a STEM at Work Event

As a STEM at Work demonstrator, you will inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics! Volunteers share about their careers in an 8-minute, interactive demonstration for groups of 5th grade students. Demos include props, equipment or technology that students can see/do along with you. Volunteers repeat their demo three times, while student groups rotate through stations in STARBASE classrooms. Each demo is unique, but always includes an introduction to your career path and overall mission of your corporation, and hands-on demonstration time where students touch/experience products/innovations from the “real world” of STEM. Before each event, volunteers meet with a STARBASE instructor to discuss demonstration ideas and prepare materials. Students leave inspired and talking about their future careers!

Students' ability to learn outside of the traditional classroom setting and curriculum is incredibly valuable. The equipment at STARBASE (Ozobots, rockets, AR/VR, 3D printers) aren't found in every school, so this enables students to gain exposure to unique (and fun!) STEM equipment.
